Blxckie Continues His Reign With The Release of “4Luv” EP

Exactly one year ago, we sat down with Blxckie for his cover story right before he broke out as one of the biggest stars to emerge in South African music in recent years. A few months of impactful collaborations followed by a chart-topping debut album meant the 22-year-old was perfectly positioned to become the country’s golden boy.

When we asked what was next for him, he responded: “ I’m always working so I have a lot in the pipeline right now. As for what people can expect in the next few months, look out for more singing, stripped-down acoustic performances, and fire collabs!”. When we circle back to those three things, he certainly did not disappoint.

Primarily a hip-hop artist, Blxckie gave fans the first taste of his r&b side in the smooth and sexy single “Hold”. He delves further into this side in his latest offering and follow-up project, 4LUV. In its first two days of release, the EP shot to the number one album in the country on Apple Music, while 4 of the 6 songs occupied the top 4 spots on the Top 100 South Africa Apple Music chart.

Friends and family were treated to an intimate first listen of the tape at Matte Black in Johannesburg on Wednesday night. Celebrating valentines month, he explains “This EP is an exploration of another side of me that I’m excited to share with everyone who has followed my journey.” He went on to add, “Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey from B4Now to where we are today with this new project 4LUV – I’m excited to keep creating and revealing more of Blxckie through music. Thank you to our sponsors Matte Black, Amor Flowers, Redbull, and Fox Cider for making tonight possible,’.

The 4LUV EP see’s the usual suspects gather to bring Blxckies genius to life. Produced by London Rhodes, Hercules, Zooci Coke Dope and Blxckie. He features singer Nicole Elocin on the track “Fortune Teller”, an unexpected and welcomed addition to the EP.
